Classes marked with an asterisk (*) can be taken to receive an incentive. To receive both incentives, one parent can take two classes or both parents can take a class together. Incentives are designed for one baby per family.

This 6 week class covers components of a healthy and intimate couple relationship; however application can be applied to a variety of relationships. Class explores:

  • How to effectively handle conflict
  • Foundations of a healthy relationship
  • The 5 Love Languages (by Gary Chapman)
  • Components of healthy communication
  • Developing emotional intimacy with your partner

This 6 week class is based on research finding showing that children who acknowledge, label and work with their emotions:

  • Perform better in school
  • Demonstrate increased communication skills; and
  • Maintain higher-quality peer and family relationships

Participants will identify their parenting style, and learn key principles for emotion coaching children.

Love Connections Group

BYOB (BRING YOUR OWN BABY), SIGN-UP FOR A DATE AFTER THE BABY IS BORN (& within their first year)
Love Connections is a unique 4 session group involving hands on training and practice with parents (or caregivers) and their babies. Each session will help baby form a secure attachment with parents. The theme of each session includes:

  • Neurological benefits
  • Attachment theory
  • Baby Massage
  • Literacy Research

Attendees will receive incentive materials to be used during session and later with attachment activities at home. This group offers research, ideas and practical guidance to new parents who desire to have their baby form a secure, healthy attachment with them. Following the start date, groups are held on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month.

Childbirth Education

Childbirth Education classes are a one-day class designed for first-time mothers, but anyone is welcome to attend. Class runs from 10am-4pm with a break for lunch. This is the place to get answers to common questions and information about your concerns regarding labor and delivery. We discuss:

  • Labor Anatomy and Terminology
  • The Process of Labor and Delivery
  • Pain Management During Labor – Relaxation, Breathing, Positioning, Medications
  • Cesarean Birth and Other Labor Interventions
  • Information about Your Newborn
  • Personal Care after Delivery of Your Baby
  • The Role of the Support Person in Labor and Delivery

Classes are taught by an experienced Registered Nurse and are available eight times per year. Bring a pillow or two for labor practice. You are encouraged to bring one support person with you to class. You will need to sign them up on a separate registration.

Deliberately Different

Moms and dads play unique roles in the lives of their children. This 6 week class is designed to help better understand that dads are “Different, not better.” Participants will explore common differences between mothering and fathering in the areas of:
  • Protection
  • Play
  • Discipline
  • Legacy
  • Positive Praise
  • Relationships and the Power of Persevering

Deliberately Different challenges attendees to look into their own experiences from their childhood and then helps align parents together for the betterment of their child.

Doctor Dad

This 4 week class offers very practical basics about an infant’s health and wellness. Topics include:
  • Temperature
  • Nutrition
  • Immunizations
  • Basics on treating a sick child
  • Treating minor injuries
  • Home safety measures
  • Dealing with parental anger
This class is geared for the first time parents and helps them prepare for the most common occurrences in a child’s health and wellness. Hands-on activities provide the parent with the comfort of experience before the time arises.

Money Matters

Open to anyone in the community, Money Matters is a 6 week class covering:

  • Creating a budget: Personal budgets will be created that can be put into practice today!
  • Debt: Attendees will be given tools on how to get out of debt.
  • How men & women differ in relation to money: Participants can personally assess what personality they are.
  • Consumer spending and advertising: Attendees gain tools for negotiating and become an aware consumer.
  • Credit Bureaus and Identity theft: Class covers how to stay safe and what to do if Identity theft happens to you!

Classes are scheduled on an individual basis by calling 316-945-9400 and you do not have to be pregnant to attend.
