It was the middle of the night when Kendra drove to Walmart for a pregnancy test. She knew something was different but seeing the ‘positive’ was still unexpected, and she didn’t know what she was going to do.
“My kid’s father was pressuring me for an abortion. I had no idea what my options were and I hadn’t told anybody but my best friend. Coming to Embrace definitely helped explain everything. Afterward, I felt a little bit more confident in how I was going to decide and more confident in talking to my parents.”
Getting Answers
After her initial visit and pregnancy test at Embrace, Kendra scheduled a free ultrasound to find out how far along she was and to see her baby for the first time. “I do think if I wouldn’t have had a ultrasound…I would’ve definitely made a decision that I was being pressured into. I mean, he had scheduled the abortion appointment for me and everything. If I wouldn’t have came first I would’ve never canceled the appointment.”
Looking Back
Lucas just celebrated his 2nd birthday and looking back, Kendra can’t imagine her life without him. “From the beginning to now it’s completely different, completely opposite. I was so overwhelmed and of course, being a mother is overwhelming sometimes but it’s a good overwhelming. It’s fulfillment.”
I know I made the right decision. I know that all the stress I did have in the beginning was definitely worth it.

He’s always making me laugh.”
